The rise of Ron Paul.

Constantine's picture

A year ago, American conservatives were dreading the onset of a new era of liberalism. Barack Obama was inaugurated as President and the media declared conservatism dead for at least the next eight years. Today, conservatives are re-energized and some even predict a Republican takeover of the House of Representatives - and perhaps even the Senate - in November's mid-term elections.  Read more »

Welcome to a game you can not win!

The people have been lulled into a false sense of safety under the rouse of a perceived "economic recovery." Unfortunately, what the majority of people think does not make it so, especially when the people making the key decisions think and act to the contrary.  Read more »

Nobel Economist Joseph Stiglitz on Obama’s Stimulus Plan.

Joseph Stiglitz.jpg

Nobel Economist Joseph Stiglitz on Obama’s Stimulus Plan, Debt, Climate Change, and "Freefall: America, Free Markets, and the Sinking of the World Economy".

As President Obama defends the success of his one-year-old $787 billion stimulus package, Democracy Now speaks to Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz, who says the stimulus was both not big enough and too focused on tax cuts.

Stiglitz is the author of the new book Freefall: America, Free Markets, and the Sinking of the World Economy, which analyzes the causes of the Great Recession of 2008 and calls for overcoming what he calls an "ersatz capitalism" that socializes losses but privatizes gains.  Read more »

The Suicide Letter from the Austin Pilot who crashed his Plane into the IRS.

The IRS Building in Austin.jpg

If you’re reading this, you’re no doubt asking yourself, "Why did this have to happen?" The simple truth is that it is complicated and has been coming for a long time. The writing process, started many months ago, was intended to be therapy in the face of the looming realization that there isn’t enough therapy in the world that can fix what is really broken.  Read more »

The Economic Elite have engineered an extraordinary Coup, threatening the very Existence of the Middle Class.

Capitalism and the trickle-down-effect.jpg

The economic elite have robbed us all. The amount of suffering in the United States of America is literally a crime against humanity.

Michael Lind wrote:
"The American oligarchy spares no pains in promoting the belief that it does not exist, but the success of its disappearing act depends on equally strenuous efforts on the part of an American public anxious to believe in egalitarian fictions and unwilling to see what is hidden in plain sight."To Have and to Have Not.

It's people, not the economy, Stupid!

Oh BIlly Boy.jpg

After $700 billion dollars of free, taxpayer’s money and billions of dollars of bonuses paid out to the bank’s employees for doing such a wonderful job, we find out that the banks are still in trouble, that our country is still in trouble.

Paul Krugman tells us this morning that "...while the wheeler-dealer side of the financial industry, a k a trading operations, is highly profitable again, the part of banking that really matters — lending, which fuels investment and job creation — is not. Key banks remain financially weak, and their weakness is hurting the economy as a whole."  Read more »

Where are the Populists?

Populism is broadly defined as "political ideas and activities that are intended to represent ordinary people’s needs and wishes."

The majority are deliberately held down by the financial elite. Removal of the financial elite is the vehicle to realize the "people’s needs and wishes." Klick here to see Graph  Read more »

Apple Gestapo: How Apple Hunts Down Leaks.

Constantine's picture

They call themselves the Worldwide Loyalty Team. Among some employees, they are known as the Apple Gestapo, a group of moles always spying in headquarters and stores, reporting directly to Jobs and Oppenheimer. Here's how they hunt people down.

"You may want to know about their Worldwide Loyalty Team," Tom told me recently in an email. I read what he had to say. It felt like a description of the Gestapo, without the torture and killing part.  Read more »

Iranian Elections: The "Stolen Elections" Myth.

Ahmadinejad.jpg

There is hardly any election, in which the White House has a significant stake, where the electoral defeat of the pro-US candidate is not denounced as illegitimate by the entire political and mass media elite.

In the most recent period, the White House and its camp followers cried foul following the free (and monitored) elections in Venezuela and Gaza, while joyously fabricating an ‘electoral success’ in Lebanon despite the fact that the Hezbollah-led coalition received over 53% of the vote.  Read more »

Globalization is killing the Globe: Return to Local Economies.

Globalization.jpg

Globalization is killing Europe, just as it's already wiped out much of the American middle class.

Spain and Greece are facing immediate crises that many other European nations see on the near horizon: aging boomer workers are retiring with healthy benefit packages, but the younger workers who are paying for those benefits aren't making anything close to the income (or, therefore, paying the taxes) that their parents did.  Read more »

Markets fail when Humans are unregulated.

Regulation.gif

Former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan answered that he had placed his trust in a flawed theory when he was called before Congress to explain why he, Goldman Sachs Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin and Deputy Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, prevented Brooksley Born, head of the Commodity Futures Trading Corporation, a government regulatory agency, from doing her job of regulating over-the-counter derivatives.

The efficient markets theory is that unregulated markets are efficient and rational. According to this theory in which Greenspan placed his trust, unregulated markets produce the best possible result. Any regulatory interference worsens the outcome.  Read more »

Canadian Prime Minister delivers Global Governance Plan.

Constantine's picture

During the January 2010 World Economic Summit in Davos Switzerland Prime Minister Stephen Harper, the current Chairman of the G-20, presented the upcoming agenda for the G-20 and G-8 meetings to be held in Ontario in June.

Many were shocked to hear this Conservative leader declare that "we also know markets need governance. For the new global economy, the G-20 is what we have." Harper went on to speak as an avowed Keynesian committed to a one world global economy, creating a world "we have been trying to build since 1945".  Read more »

The Next Absurd Terror Ruse: Muslim Women with Exploding Breasts!

Constantine's picture

Joseph Farah’s WorldNetDaily continues to break important news on the New World Order, one-world government, and the North American Union. However, the news website often serves as a propaganda outlet for all manner of neocon nonsense.

Case in point: Farah’s G2 Bulletin, a subscription online newsletter. In the latest edition, Mr. Farah claims we should fear Muslim women because trained surgeons who hate us for our freedom to revel in the Super Bowl and other gladiatorial diversions are implanting explosives in the breasts of Muslim women.  Read more »

Is the Bankruptcy of the United States certain?

Constantine's picture
DOA.jpg

It's one of those numbers that's so unbelievable you have to actually think about it for a while. Within the next 12 months, the U.S. Treasury will have to refinance $2 trillion in short-term debt. And that's not counting any additional deficit spending, which is estimated to be around $1.5 trillion.

Put the two numbers together. Then ask yourself, how in the world can the Treasury borrow $3.5 trillion in only one year? That's an amount equal to nearly 30% of our entire GDP. And we're the world's biggest economy. Where will the money come from?  Read more »

So, what is proposed? "Practically speaking", the authors write, "government might do well to maintain a more vigorous counter-disinformation establishment."

They recommend that government officials respond "to more rather than fewer conspiracy theories [which] has a kind of synergy benefit: it reduces the legitimating effect of responding to any one of them, because it dilutes the contrast with unrebutted theories."  Read more »

Sarah Palin: Attack Iran!

Constantine's picture

Sarah Palin has stated that she thinks Barack Obama will have a good chance for re-election if he attacks Iran. This is solid evidence that Palin does not understand United States foreign policy, diplomacy, global oil supplies and Iran in general.

Despite being able to see Russia from her backyard, Palin obviously does not realize that Russia gets most of its oil from Iran. If we were to attack Iran this would very likely trigger World War III.

Mainstream Media want to end Freedom of Speech in the Internet.

Time Magazine has enthusiastically jumped on the bandwagon to back Microsoft executive Craig Mundie’s call for Internet licensing, as authorities push for a system even more stifling than in Communist China, where only people with government permission would be allowed to express free speech.  Read more »
